The director of the Wisconsin Conservation Voters applauds Governor Tony Evers for creating a new state government position to coordinate the state’s efforts at combating lead in drinking water. The governor signed the order creating the position within the state Department of Health Services. Conservation Voters director Kerry Schumann says the coordinator will be in charge of the state’s efforts to address lead poisoning prevention, treatment, removal, abatement and surveillance. “Especially when children are exposed to lead causes some really scary health problems,” Schumann told WFDL news.
