9-3-19 non-venomous snake escapes from cage at fdl high school

Fond du Lac High School officials are looking for a non-venomous snake that escaped from its  cage over the weekend.  School officials notified parents of the incident as students headed back to school this week.  So far attempts to locate the snake have been unsuccessful.

9-2-19 elderly mayville woman found in basement of waupun home dies from injuries

An elderly Mayville woman who was found unconscious in the basement of a Waupun home last month with severe head injuries has died.   Waupun police chief Scott Louden says 75 year old Carol Foreman died last week at ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah.  Police are waiting for autopsy results as they continue their investigation into the incident.   The woman’s grandson, 30 year old Gregory Spittel, was arrested and made his initial Fond du Lac court […]

9-2-19 waupun area fire quickly extinguished

Nobody was injured in a fire that caused minor damage to a Waupun area  business.     Waupun firefighters were called Saturday morning for a report that a multi-tennant commercial building on Highway 49 was filling with smoke.  Firefighters found a smoldering fire on a work bench in a space leased by Home Contrractors  and  used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.   Damage was limited to a work bench in the shop […]

9-2-19 labor day holiday gas prices down

Gas prices for this Labor Day holiday weekend are the lowest in the last few years.   State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says drivers are paying more than 25 cents less than they did a year ago.  Jarmuscz tells WFDL news that the average price for a unleaded regular is $2.53  a gallon.  Labor Day marks the end of the busy summer travel season and the last big surge in gasoline […]

8-31-19 dnr moves to shorten ruffed grouse season

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Department of Natural Resources board is moving toward shortening Wisconsin's ruffed grouse season to as the population dwindles.  The board voted unanimously Tuesday to allow the department to craft an emergency rule that would close the season across the northwestern two-thirds of the state on Jan. 5. 8-31-19 victim of fatal motorcycle vs. car crash identified

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle versus  car crash in Dodge County.  The Sheriff’s Office says 29 year old Jacob Harshbarger of rural Fox Lake died from injuries suffered in the crash Wednesday morning on  Kellom Road north of CTH B in the Township of Beaver Dam.  Investigators say Harshbarger was turning into a parking lot and collided with a  car.  He was not wearing a helmet.   He […]
