A Waupun man arrested following an incident that critically injured the man’s grandmother has made his initial Fond du Lac court appearance. Thirty year old Gregory Spittel is charged with threatening a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He is also charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Judge Richard Nuss set bail at $21,000 cash. Police were called to the Brandon Street home last Saturday and found Spittel’s grandmother with what were described as severe head injuries. She remains hospitalized at ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah. Spittel has not yet been charged with causing the injuries to his grandmother, but Waupun police chief Scott Louden, says additional charges could be filed depending on the outcome of the investigation. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 6.
