The Fond du Lac city manager says the overall tax rate will be down in a proposed 2020 budget. “That’s the first time we’ve been able to say that in well over ten years,” city manager Joe Moore told WFDL news. Moore presented the proposed budget at Wednesday night’s city council meeting. Moore says the tax rate will go down about two percent. The budget does not include an additional ambulance crew, or six new positions as requested by the fire chief. Moore says with revenue limits, the city can’t afford to do that at this time. Top capital improvements in the budget include $3.5 million for a new Lakeside Park pavilion, over $1 million for a new fire department ladder truck and a new roundabout at Rienzi Road and Fond du lac Avenue.
