MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has asked Gov. 9-30-19 former fdl attorney denied petition to have law license reinstated

The State Supreme Court has denied a Fond du lac attorney’s petition  to have his license to practice law in Wisconsin reinstated.  Seven years ago the Supreme Court ordered that Christopher Mutschler’s  law license be revoked and ordered Mutschler to pay $250,000 in restitution for taking money from clients and not following through on the cases.  In denying reinstatement the court noted that Mutschler has made no restitution payments to the clients aggrieved by his misconduct.  […]

9-30-19 fdl credit card skimming defendant convicted

A second person has been convicted in connection with a series of credit card fraud and skimming incidents in Fond du Lac.   At a hearing Friday afternoon in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Preda Mihai Alexandru  pleaded guilty to six counts of  wire fraud and theft from a financial institution.  Forty other counts were dismissed and read into the record.  A pre-sentence investigation was ordered.  Meanwhile a sentencing hearing scheduled for Friday for […]

9-28-19 fdl city council approves short term loan for retlaw hotel

The Fond du Lac city council has approved a short term  loan for the downtown Retlaw Hotel.  City council president Brian Kolstad says the $350,000 eight month loan will be used for the hotel  for operating expenses.  The loan is in addition to a $2.4 million tax increment district created by the city to help with a $35 million renovation project for the historic hotel.   The refurbished hotel reopened earlier this year under […]
