The Fond du Lac city manager says the overall tax rate will be down in a proposed 2020 budget. City manager Joe Moore presented the proposed budget at a special city council meeting last night. The budget does not include an additional ambulance crew, or six new positions as requested by the fire chief. Moore says with revenue limits, the city can’t afford to do that at this time. Top capital improvements in the budget include $3.5 million for a new Lakeside Park pavilion, over $1 million for a new fire department ladder truck and a new roundabout at Rienzi Road and Fond du lac Avenue. The budget will be published October 9. A public hearing will be held October 23 and the council will vote to approve the budget at their November 13 meeting.
