A Beaver Dam woman is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the February death of her two year-old son. Twenty seven year old Amanda Trost made her initial court appearance this week. According to the criminal complaint, Beaver Dam police were called to Trost’s residence in February for a report that her son was not breathing. The child was pronounced dead at a hospital. An autopsy determined his cause of death was acute methadone intoxication. According to the complaint Trost was a heroin addict. After she was told what caused the boy’s death, Trost denied giving her son the drug, and said she had spilled some of her methadone in the kitchen and used a paper towel to wipe it up and put the paper towel in the trash, according to the criminal complaint. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 5.
