The Waupun School Board has approved a 2020 budget that includes a slight drop in the tax levy. School District administrator Steve Hill says the budget includes a 35 cent decline in the mill rate to $9.33 per thousand of assessed value. Hill says there are several factors including a $973,000 increase in state aid. “The state budget gave more funds to school districts which helps out the local property taxes,” Hill told WFDL news. There are 25 more full time students in the school district. Hill says overall general fund spending is up nearly two million dollars. All staff will receive a wage increase of approximately 2.44 percent. Overall, Hill says he feels good about the budget.
