BENNINGTON, Vt. 10-29-19 fdl county public health officer encouraging residents to get flu shot

With the CDC predicting a severe flu season the Fond  du Lac County Public Health Officer is encouraging residents to get a flu shot.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says the CDC is basing their prediction in part on the flu season that is winding down in Australia.    There were 270,000 confirmed flu cases in Australia this year compared to 60,000 cases the year before.  Mueller says there is plenty of […]

10-29-19 health groups applaud proposed bill that would add e-cigarettes to smoke free air law

Health groups are applauding a bill that would add e-cigarettes to Wisconsin’s smoke free air law.  The American Heart Association and American Lung Association support the bill, designed to protect people by including secondhand aerosol from e-cigarettes.  Dona Wininsky with the American Lung Association in Wisconsin sasy e-cigarettes pose an enormous threat to our next generation.  Wininsky says everyone in Wisconsin has a right to breathe clean air.

10-29-19 fdl water main break

Motorists were detoured around a busy Fond du lac intersection Monday following a water main break.   Public Works director Jordan Skiff says crews were called to repair the break after water was reported bubbling up through cracks in the street near the  intersection of Fourth and Marr Streets.

(AP) — Former House Speaker Paul Ryan has launched a new nonprofit organization he says will be focused on fighting poverty, increasing economic opportunities and advancing evidence-based public policies.  Ryan announced the launch of the American Idea Foundation on Monday. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Law enforcement officers are investigating the third shooting along a Milwaukee interstate in less than two weeks.  The latest shooting happened Sunday about 8 p.m. and closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 43 as sheriff's deputies searched for evidence.
