The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is warning motorists to keep their eyes on the side of the road for deer. Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt tells WFDL news this is the time of the year when the number of car-deer crashes tend to spike during the rut. Waldschmidt says while most car-deer collisions result in only property damage, they can also result in injury or even death. According to the state Department of Transportation during the past five years, the number of deer crashes in Wisconsin has remained fairly steady between 18,300 and 20,400.
