The Fond du Lac area DNR warden says a hunting accident in the county during the opening weekend of the gun-deer season is a reminder about the importance of following the basic rules of hunter safety. DNR warden Nick Miofsky told WFDL news the 19 year old woman was struck in the finger by a bullet while hunting in the New Fane area of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Miofsky says the victim was in a deer hunting party conducting a drive when she was struck by a bullet that apparently richocheted off an object. Miofsky says the accident is a reminder for hunters to be sure of your target and what is in front of and beyond the target. The woman was transported to the hospital by a member of the hunting party. She was treated at the hospital and released.
