12-16-19 fire destroys vacant house in fdl

A fire that destroyed a vacant house in Fond du Lac early Saturday morning is under investigation.  Firefighters were called to 222 W. Arndt St. for a report of fire showing on  the back of the house and upon arrival encountered heavy fire on the rear of the building.  Firefighters battled and extinguished the fire, but not before the house experienced substantial damage.   A MABAS box alarm was initiated that brought in firefighters from surrounding communities.  Alliant Gas and Electric was called to assist with utility control and the American Red Cross provided  assistance to  fire crews.
