Candidates have until January 7 to file nomination papers to run for local office in the spring election. Kay Miller, Donna Richards and Ben Giles are up for re-election to the Fond du lac city council. Council president Karyn Merkel cannot run because of term limits. Challenger Arletta Allen has taken out nomination papers. Mark Strand is running for re-election to the Fond du Lac School Board and incumbent Monica Walk is not seeking re-election. Walk is running for county board. Richard Gedemer, who ran unsuccessfully for school board in the last election is running again along with Ishamon Harris and Devin McCormack. Harris was a vocal supporter of artificial turf during recent debate over the issue. Fond du Lac County Circuit judge Dale English is running for re-election to another six year term. He was first elected in 1996.
