The Fond du Lac County executive disputes a report that the county’s website is not secure. Al Buechel was responding to a report that 55 percent of county websites in Wisconsin are not secure, including Fond du Lac County. “Ours is more secure than that report would indicate,” Buechel told WFDL news. “Whether it can be tightened down a bit, that’s what our I-S director is talking about. He has a whole other viewpoint on how secure our website is from the standpoint of hacking and tampering as it affects elections.” Buechel says some counties are creating a separate website for elections. Buechel criticizes the Elections Commission administrator for stating the majority of Wisconsin counties are not using a secure protocol for their county websites. He says that only undermines the faith has the public has when it comes to voting.
