12-30-19 inmate assaults staff member at waupun correctional institution

The state Department of Corrections is continuing its investigation after an inmate attacked a staff member at the Waupun Correctional Institution on Christmas Eve.   A  state Department of Corrections spokesperson said the victim was treated at the hospital for unspecified injuries after he was assaulted with what was described as an improvised weapon.  The spokesperson said the facility was placed on a lock down until the DOC believes it is safe to resume normal operations. 12-30-19 fdl green space acquisition

The Fond du Lac Redevelopment Authority has acquired the property at 101 South Street for future green space.  This acquisition completes the ongoing and voluntary acquisition of properties adjacent to the  Quic Frez site.   Community Development director Dyann Benson says the property will be incorporated into the city’s long term plans for the overall property as part of the City’s green space and recreational amenities.

Authorities in Milwaukee say a baby boy injured in a car crash has died, bringing the death toll from the weekend crash to four. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirms the death of 5-month-old Larry Williams IV. The baby's parents and 2-year-old sister also were killed in the crash. 12-27 Man Arrested For Christmas Eve Shooting

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested in connection with a Christmas Eve homicide in Madison. The victim has been identified as 63-year-old Sheila Green, of Madison. Police say she was shot to death. The suspect was booked shortly after midnight Wednesday on a tentative charge of first-degree intentional homicide. The incident is the fourth reported homicide in Madison this year and the second this month.
