The executive director of the Wisconsin Coalition Against Homelessness says he is pleased the governor has signed into law a bipartisan bill that increases funding for homeless shelters by $1 million over the next two years. Coalition director Joe Volk says the bill will help homeless people throughout the state. “I was there (bill signing) I was happy to be there and see the governor sign a bill that provides more funding for emergency shelters for the homeless throughout the state,” Volk told WFDL news. The bill is the only one of eight bills in a homelessness package that cleared the legislature. The Assembly passed the other seven, but they stalled in the senate under concerns from a handful of Republican senators about their cost.
