A public open house and ribbon cutting will be held this month for the new Fond du Lac County Highway Department garage. The garage is located on South Hickory Street, Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac County executive Al Buechel says the $26 million project includes a 135,000 square foot highway garage complex, a large cold storage facility, a separate garage for Senior Services vehicles, and a Sheriff’s Office impound garage. Additional structures include an outdoor long-distance shooting range and salt storage sheds for winter road maintenance for both state and county highways. Buechel says the new facility, is one, if not the best in the state. The open house is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday February 29 with a ribbon cutting at 11:15 a.m. Tours will be available.
