Alliant Energy has received reports from customers in Wisconsin including Fond du Lac about scam calls linked to the company. The scammers, pretending to be employees, threaten to cut off power in a few hours unless a payment is made, according to a release by Alliant Energy. Alliant Energy is reminding people that employees will never call customers demanding an immediate payment. They will also not ask customers to purchase prepaid credit cars or make payments over email, according to the release. The release also said scammers have the ability to make it appear the calls are coming from Alliant Energy. Alliant Energy’s official phone number is 1-800-ALLIANT. Staff said this is the only number to call if you have any questions or concerns about your service.
