Fond du Lac police have identified the person who was found dead in the Fond du Lac River over the weekend. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says 34 year old Robert Thorp of Fond du Lac was found in the river Saturday near Fruth Field. “A person that was walking by saw what they believed to be a body in the river. Our officers arrived and a subject that was in the river. That subject was identified as a 34 year old Fond du Lac man,” Klein told WFDL news. Klein says there were no obvious signs of foul play. He says police are investigating whether drugs and or alcohol may have been involved and the possibility Thorp may have accidentally fallen in the river and drowned. Police are waiting for autopsy and toxicology test results.
