The Assembly Democratic leader says voting for the rest of the elections this year should be done by mail to preserve voter rights while keeping voters and poll workers safe. Democratic lawmakers introduced a bill Thursday that would move all elections this year to voting by mail. The bill was introduced after absentee ballots never made it in time for Tuesday’s deadline, including three bins in the Oshkosh and Appleton area. Assembly Democratic leader Gordon Hintz of Oshkosh was one of those who didn’t get a ballot. “I think the clerks did the best they can under awful circumstances,” Hintz told WFDL news. Hintz chose not to vote in person, complying with a public health order instead. It’s why you don’t have an election. We know the virus is going to be spread tremendously, that businesses won’t be able to open and we’re going to have a lot more people die.” Hintz says he doesn’t believe the election was legitimate and expects whoever loses the state Supreme Court race will challenge the results.
