Fond du Lac County’s most popular recreation hiking trail is closing due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Fond du Lac County executive’s office announced that Hobbs Woods will close effective Friday, April 10th and remain closed until further notice. The park is located just south of the city of Fond du lac. The county says the closure is consistent with the state Department of Health Services order prohibiting mass gatherings of 10 people or more and also due to unprecedented crowds, litter, parking and the need to protect the health and safety of visitors and staff. Columbia and Waupun Park Campgrounds are also closed to comply with Fond du Lac County Public Health Order #3 issued on April 7th. Other areas of these parks, as well as all other county parks and trails will remain open to the public if users are complying with the state order.
