Celebrate Waupun has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Festival organizers say with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 crisis, including an unknown time frame of non-essential business closings and social distancing requirements the decision was made to cancel the event this year. “We can’t in good conscience go ahead with Celebrate Waupun and bring thousands of people together over two and a half days (even if the cases of COVID-19 diminish and we flatten the curve) when people are going through such a difficult time now,” Waupun Festivals said in a statement. “Our event would not want to be the reason of more community spread.” The fireworks show scheduled for June 28 has also been canceled. Waupun Festivals says instead “Everyone should focus on helping their fellow citizens in order to strengthen our community once this pandemic passes.”
