The Fond du Lac city council has approved an ordinance setting fines for children as young as 12 years old for violating the governor’s safer at home order. Fond du Lac police chief Bill Lamb says while most people are following the governor’s safer at home order the department is still receiving reports of violations, primarily by high school age and younger adults. Lamb says common violations include use of playgrounds, basketball courts, hanging out with groups of friends and larger gatherings. The Fond du Lac city council has approved an ordinance for first time offenses of the safer at home order. The ordinance calls for $90 fines for children ages 12 and 13, $187 for children 14-16 and $313 for those 17 and older. Parents and guardians can also be cited in certain circumstances.
