Wisconsin U.S. Senator Ron Johnson is in the president’s corner in promoting the use of hydroxychloroquine for coronavirus patients. The president continues to hype the antimalarial drug as a possible miracle cure for COVID-19, even though the nation’s top infectious disease researcher, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has repeatedly downplayed the drug’s effectiveness as “anechedotal.” Senator Johnson says he thinks it should at least be tried. Johnson says this requires “out of the box thinking.” He says these are “extraordinary times that require extraordinary measures.” He says we can’t wait for FDA and CDC approval. Johnson made the comments on AM 1170’s Between the Lines program.
