MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Thirty-four Wisconsin state parks and recreational areas closed for three weeks will be able to reopen Friday as temperatures increase across the state and cases of coronavirus level off. 4-28-20 ssm health announces furloughs

SSM Health has announced it is placing approximately 2,000 employees or five percent of it’s workforce on furlough across it’s four state health system including Wisconsin.  SSM Health says the furloughs come as the company invests in supplies and tools needed to respond to the coronavirus pandemic, while volumes across their health system have decreased by roughly 50 percent.  When normal operations resume SSM says it intends to provide a special one-time Return to Work […]

4-28-20 new fdl school board president

Susan Jones has been elected Fond du Lac School Board president.   Jones was elected to the post at Monday night’s school board meeting.  She replaces Linda Uselmann who was elected board secretary.  Mark Jurgella was elected board vice president and Mark Strand was elected board treasurer.    Newly elected board members Strand and newcomer Rick Gedemer were sworn into office.

Golf is back and Fond du Lac area residents took advantage of nice weather over the weekend to play area courses.   Even though the Safer at Home order has been extended until May 26, golf courses were allowed to reopen Friday under certain restrictions.  Rolling Meadows Golf Course manager David Brandenburg says there were over 600 starts over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which is up from a normal opening weekend.  "Opening weekend […]

4-28-20 merc fishing tournament organizers say event is still on…for now

The director of the  Mercury Marine National Walleye Fishing tournament says he hopes to know by the middle of May if the tournament will take place as scheduled in June.   Ken Krueger says as of right now the tournament is still on for June 13 and 14 on the Lake Winnebago system.   Krueger says it’s a huge tournament with up to 300 teams and 600 anglers. He says  the challenge is developing a plan […]

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A husband and wife of 73 years who both tested positive for the coronavirus have died within hours of each other at a Milwaukee hospital.  Wilford and Mary Kepler spent their final moments together just feet apart.
