The Fond du Lac County Land Information director says work is nearly completed on a new parking lot for Hobbs Woods. The popular hiking trail south of Fond du Lac reopens Friday. The park was closed April 10 due to large crowds of people and social distancing concerns, plus general generally poor trail conditions following the winter. County Land Information director Terry Dietzel says a new parking lot on the south end of the park will replace the existing parking lot on Hickory Road. Dietzel says the old parking lot will be open when the trail reopens on Friday. Meanwhile, Dietzel says the county is working with a consultant to decide how to go about repairing a portion of the lower trail along Parson’s creek that has eroded due to run-off from nearby farm fields.
