The Fond du Lac School District is joining a majority of districts in Wisconsin asking the state Department of Public Instruction to waive it’s requirement on a set number of instructional hours due to the coronavirus. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says there is no way to track the hours after COVID-19 canceled in-person classes beginning March 18 for the remainder of the school year. “We’re all mostly going to be applying for that waiver because while we are continuing remote and online learning there’s no real way to say we are doing the amount of hours that we would regularily do if we had kids in person,” Sebert told WFDL news. DPI requires a minimum number of annual instruction hours. Districts have until the end of the academic year on June 30 to apply for a waiver.
