Fond du Lac High School band director Matt McVeigh is leaving. The popular jazz music teacher has accepted the same position in the Sun Prairie School District. McVeigh is leaving at eight years in the Fond du Lac School District. McVeigh says he’s going to miss Fond du Lac. “The time I’ve had in Fond du Lac has been some of the most formative years of my young adulthood,” McVeigh told WFDL news. “…the opportunity to make music with kids in this community on a day to day basis is really emotional and powerful and something I will never forget.” In 2014 McVeigh was recognized for creative and innovative teaching in the classroom. He received the Creative Sparks Award for Music Education at the Wisconsin Music Educators Convention.
