Fond du Lac police say a report of a woman threatening to shoot people in the street is apparently a swatting incident. Swatting is a prank call designed to dispatch a large number of armed police officers and first responders to a residence. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein told WFDL news shortly before 8pm Saturday police were called to a residence on Mequon Avenue for a report that a woman was armed with an AR15 semiautomatic rifle and was “threatening to shoot people in the street.” Several police officers armed with assault rifles, and paramedics rushed to the scene. Klein says police quickly learned the caller’s report was false and believe the prank call originated from California.
