Fond du Lac Public Works says motorists should be aware of a railroad crossing and street closure starting Monday.  The Grove Street and Western Avenue railroad crossings will be closed beginning  Monday,  and remain closed through Saturday, June 6.   The railroad crossings will be closed to allow Canadian National to make repairs at the railroad crossings. 5-30-20 minneapolis cop who knelt on man’s neck charged with murder

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The white Minneapolis police officer who knelt on George Floyd’s neck has been arrested on murder charges and accused in court papers of ignoring another officer’s concerns about him. Floyd was the handcuffed black man who died after pleading that he could not breathe. Officer Derek Chauvin was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the case. 5-30-20 gas leak repaired

Fond du Lac firefighters were called to a report a gas leak Friday afternoon.  Fire chief Pete O’Leary says construction crews hit a two inch natural gas line at Division Street and Hazotte Court.   Some residents in the immediate area were evacuated for a short period.   The leak was located and repaired.

5-30-20 covid-19 outbreak at waupun prison

Mass testing has resulted in finding nearly 200 new positive cases of COVID-19 at the Waupun Correctional  Institution.    The state Department of Corrections says  184 positive cases were confirmed Friday at Waupun Correctional.  The DOC says testing at Waupun Correctional was completed this week for all staff and inmates.   As of Friday results of approximately half of the tests had been received.   The DOC says the majority of the individuals […]

5-30-20 wisconsin records 18 more covid-19 deaths

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin health officials have recorded nearly 20 more COVID-19-related deaths since Thursday. The state Department of Health Services says the number of deaths in the state as of Friday afternoon stood at 568, up 18 from the same time on Thursday.  The total number of cases stood at 17,707, an increase of 733 from Thursday. Nearly 2,500 people have been hospitalized.

5-30-20 ten new positive covid-19 cases in fdl county

The Fond du Lac County Public Health Department is conducting additional tests in an effort to curb the spread of a COVID-19 outbreak at a Fond du Lac apartment complex. 5-30-20 fdl city council to give bars and restaurants a break on liquor license fees

The city of Fond du Lac is giving a break to bars and restaurants hit hard by the cornavirus pandemic.     The city council has agreed to a 75 percent refund  of the $600 Class B liquor license fee.  City manager Joe Moore says Class B license holders were most affected by the Safer at Home order with their primary option being curbside pickup only.  Some of them were able to operate in this […]

5-29-20 head on collision in dodge county seriously injures two teens

Two West Bend teenagers were seriously injured in a head on collision between a pickup truck  and semi-tractor trailer in Dodge County.  The crash happened shortly before 8pm  Thursday on Highway 33 near Luedke Lane.   The Sheriff’s Office says the driver  and passenger in the pickup, ages 16 and 17,  were taken to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee with serious injuries.   The semi driver, from Illinois,  received minor injuries.
