6-12-20 scaled back fdl county fair

The Fond du Lac County Fair Board has announced a shortened Fair next month with restrictions.    Fair secretary Matt Immel says the plan calls for the Fair to run from Thursday July 16 through Sunday July 19, operating in two shifts…one during the day and the other at night.  The grounds will be closed for an hour between shifts for cleaning.  Immel says signage would encourage social distancing and the grounds will be fenced to limit access to patrons.   Tickets will be required to be purchased in  advance and limited to 2000 per shift, resulting in a maximum attendance of 14,000 for the entire Fair.   The Fair normally  attracts between 40,000 to 50,000 people.  Immel stresses the Fair is still free.  All events will  take place outdoors and there would be no grandstand events.   Immel says the music entertainment and other grandstand events have been rescheduled for the 2021 Fair.  There will  be limited vendors with limited menus.  Immel says the potential for one or two carnival rides is still up in the air at this point.   The majority of the 4-H and open class projects will be judged prior to the Fair opening on Thursday.
