6-16-20 retired ripon college economist says another relief package is critical

A retired Ripon College economist says a second coronavirus relief package is critical as state economies continue to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic.  Economist Paul Schoofs says he’s also encouraged by comments from the U.S. Treasury secretary last week that shutting down the economy a second time is not a realistic course of action.  “I take that as a positive because I think  what’s behind the secretary’s comment is that there will be another package of aid to boost spending power,” Schoofs told WFDL news.   Although Schoofs says that promise could be tested if the COVID death toll spikes.   In Wisconsin, Schoofs says his biggest concern this summer is what impact the pandemic will have on the tourism industry?
