6-19-20 fdl residential fire

One person was transported to the hospital for evaluation following a fire that damaged a Fond du Lac home.  Thursday afternoon firefighters were called to a residence at 30 Sunset Circle to find smoke coming from the roof of the house.  The fire was brought under control in about an hour. photo: fdl fire/rescue

6-19-20 another surprise drop in wi unemployment rate

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development reports that the state's unemployment rate dropped to 12% in May. The state's “safer at home” order closing most nonessential businesses due to the coronavirus pandemic was in effect for two weeks that month before being struck down. 6-19-20 rubbish pile on fire

Nobody was injured in a rubbish pile fire northwest of Fond du Lac Thursday morning.  Firefighters were called to the scene  at JTL Repair on County Highway D,  near the Fondy Sports Complex  where the fire created a large plume of smoke that could be seen for several miles.  The fire spread to a nearby pickup truck.   The Fond du Lac Fire Department assisted at the scene.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Officials at the University of Wisconsin-Madison say they will open as scheduled this fall with a mix of in-person and online courses.
