A 37 year old Fond du Lac man drowned in the Fond du Lac River. Rescue personnel were called Thursday evening for a report of a man in the water in distress. Witnesses say the man was fishing near the Johnson Street bridge when he jumped in the river to swim across and then went under the water. The man was recovered in the river just south of the Arndt Street bridge and transported to St. Agnes Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police are continuing their investigation.
