While the specifics are new, a retired Ripon College political science professor, says the general allegations leveled against president Donald Trump in a new book by former advisor John Bolton are not. In the book being released this week Bolton says Trump was driven by political calculations when he made national security decisions. Retired Ripon College political scientist Marty Farrell says the timing is certainly bad. “It is getting close to the election. We actually have seen a pretty significant increase in the disapproval rating Trump is getting in the polls,” Farrell told WFDL news. Farrell says he’s sure excerpts from the book will be used by Democrats between now and the election in advertising and on the campaign trail, but the question is what the impact will be? Farrell notes there were other scandals involving Trump before the 2016 election that didn’t alter the outcome.
