The Alto Fair has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fair organizers say the decision to cancel the Fair, scheduled for August, was made after discussing challenges involved in social distancing, the potential of limiting attendance and the liability involved. Organizers say the feasibility of following CDC recommendations to keep people safe in the uncertainty of the COVID-19 situation weighed heavily in the decision. The Fair Board also says it would be unfair to ask for more at a time when many sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers and community members are experiencing financial hardship.
