More people who were laid off during the Safer at Home order in April were hired back last month and that’s reflected in the latest unemployment figures. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County is back in single digits at 9.6 percent for May. That’s down from 11.1 percent in April. The Fond du Lac County jobless rate plummeted nearly four percentage points from 15 percent in April to 11.3 percent last month. The city of Fond du Lac’s unemployment rate also dropped significantly from 16.8 to 12.9 percent. The statewide unemployment rate is 12 percent.
