7-17-20 fdl lakeside park alternate master plan-councilmember donna richards

A Fond  du Lac city councilmember says she is surprised at the recent opposition to an alternative Lakeside Park master plan.   More than 2,000 people signed an online petition in opposition to the plan that  calls for a  restaurant and history museum on the lighthouse peninsula and amphitheater on Oven Island.    Councilmember Donna Richards says her initial reaction is that it’s unfortunate.   “Discussion to the point of adopting this alternative plan occurred many months ago,”  Richards told WFDL news.  “We had the big meeting at Lakeside Park to reveal it.  A lot of people never heard about it, had no idea it was going on,  and are very surprised and not happy with it.”   Richards says she wishes people who are opposed had voiced their concerns earlier.  The city of Fond du Lac is encouraging residents to comment on the alternate Lakeside Park master plan on the city’s website.
