A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain says seatbelts could have saved lives and prevented serious injuries in a rollover crash on Interstate 41 over the weekend. Two people were killed and three people were injured in the crash Sunday night on 41 south of Townline Road. Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says only the driver was buckled up and seatbelts could have saved lives. The Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims as:
Passenger (deceased) – Nana Yaw Yeboah, 49 year-old male, Appleton
Passenger (deceased) – Malik Bridges, 22 year-old male, Appleton
Passenger – Tiarah Stewart, 19 year-old female, Appleton
Passenger – Deandre Love, 26 year-old male, Appleton
Driver – Samuel Coppersmith, 20 year-old male, Appleton
Meanwhile, Tadych says the investigation into a head on collision on Rolling Meadows drive south of County Highway OO Friday afternoon continues. Tadych says a car veered across the center line striking a mini-van head on. Investigators are trying to determine if the driver may have been reaching for a cell phone. The driver of the car that crossed the center line, 27 year old Jordan Thomas of North Fond du Lac, received life-threatening head injuries. The driver of the minivan, 29 year old Delia Ceballos of North Fond du Lac, and two child passengers received non life-threatening injuries.
