The Fond du Lac city councilmember who has led the effort to develop a portion of Lakeside Park acknowledges public opposition to the project is growing. On AM 1170s Between the Lines program Ben Giles responded to a recent backlash on social media to an alternate plan proposed by a business group. The plan includes a restaurant on the lighthouse peninsula and amphitheater and parking lot on Oven Island. Giles says initially when the plan was introduced there was a lot of positive feedback, but admits more concerns have been raised in the last few weeks. “As more people are hearing about the plan and as it’s been more publicized we’re hearing more concerning feedback or negative feedback from folks that are concerned,” Giles told WFDL news. “I think that comes from the lighthouse peninsula. (plan) I think that’s a big sticking point.”
