As coronavirus cases continue to surge, the fragile economy has stalled and a stalemate continues in Congress over another economic stimulus package. Retired Ripon College economist Paul Schoofs says he believes in the end an aid package will be approved in the next few weeks. Schoofs says the lapse in expanded unemployment benefits last Friday doesn’t help. Meanwhile Schoofs says the 9.5 percent drop in the gross domestic product in the second quarter is the largest quarter to quarter drop we’ve ever seen.
