A new report shows Fond du Lac County has a higher poverty rate than the statewide average. The 2020 ALICE report shows 38 percent of Fond du Lac County residents live in poverty, compared to 34 percent statewide. ALICE stands for Asset, Limited, Income, Constrained, Employed. Fond du Lac Area United Way director Amber Kilawee says that’s based on 2018 data. The city of Fond du Lac’s poverty rate is 42 percent. Ripon has the highest percentage of people in poverty at 44 percent, according to the report.
