Fond du Lac judge Gary Sharpe says it’s time for him to retire and let someone younger take over the position. The 70 year old Sharpe is retiring at the end of the year after more than a decade on the bench. “It is a very honorable position and a challenging position,” Sharpe told WFDL news. “I think I’ve done all the things I’ve wanted to do and it’s time for someone else to have a chance.” Sharpe says he’s looking forward in retirement to spending more time with his family including his grandchildren. Sharpe was first elected to the Branch 4 seat in 2010. Before that he worked in private practice. Sharpe’s term expires July 31 2022 and the governor will make an appointment to fill the vacancy. The governor’s office is accepting applications until Monday October 19.
