A Fond du Lac judge has ordered a second competency exam for a Fond du Lac man who is charged with a hate crime for intentionally crashing his pick-up truck into a motorcyclist, killing the motorcycle operator. Fond du Lac judge Richard Nuss granted District Attorney Eric Toney’s request for the second in-patient exam for 27 year old Daniel Navarro to determine more about any medication requirements and Navarro’s ability to understand the advantages and disadvantages of medication. Navarro is charged with first-degree intentional homicide with a hate crime enhancer in the July crash in the town of Taycheeda that claimed the life of 55 year old Phillip A. Thiessen of Fond du Lac. Nuss said he would not accept an insanity plea until Navarro was examined by a psychiatrist.
