Three Fond du Lac County townships have approved referendums to have their town clerks appointed by the town board. The towns of Ashford, Eldorado and Lamartine all approved referendums in support. The town of Eldorado also approved appointment of the town treasurer. County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says townships across the state are having a difficult time finding people to run for the office. Freiberg says, in a nutshell, nobody wants the job anymore. Freiberg says probably at least a third of the townships have appointed officials. Voters approved a $500,000 referendum in the Ripon School District.
