A fire that burned several acres in a wooded area in southeast Fond du Lac County is under investigation. The fire was reported shortly after 7pm Wednesday near County Highway W north of Sunset Lane, in the town of Ashford. A witness reported seeing a vehicle stopped on the shoulder prior to the fire starting. The fire burned approximately 30 to 40 acres. Nobody was injured. Upon arrival of first responders, the fire had spread significantly through the field, which consisted mostly of cattails and a small wooded area. The land is owned by Donald Blatz. The Campbellsport Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from Eden, Kewaskum, Mt. Calvary, Lamartine, and St. Cloud.
