The first and only AAA travel forecast of the year projects what we already knew…fewer Americans will be traveling this Thanksgiving amid the pandemic. AAA spokeswoman Molly Hart says the COVID-19 pandemic, health concerns and unemployment are key factors in what is expected to be the lowest Thanksgiving travel volume in four years and largest yearly decline since the Great Recession. Hart says AAA projects 50 million Americans will travel, and almost a million in Wisconsin. But Hart says the survey was conducted in the middle of October and the numbers will likely be even lower. About the only good news is gas prices remain low. The average price for a gallon of regular is $1.93 in Wisconsin, down more than 40 cents from a year ago.
