The Fond du Lac County Health Department Tobacco Control Program coordinator says she’s not surprised at a new federal lawsuit against vaping company JUUL, alleging false marketing on social media. Two parents and two young people from Wisconsin filed the lawsuit alleging JUUL falsely marketed it’s products over social media, leaving them addicted to nicotine. Fond du Lac County Tobacco Control Program coordinator Sandy Bernier says after a successful effort over many years to reduce cigarette use by young people, the rise in the popularity of vaping is like starting all over again. The lawsuit alleges JUUL ads featured attractive young people promoting vaping as more popular and safer than smoking cigarettes when vaping JUUL cartridges is actually more dangerous.
