A retired Ripon College economist says president-elect Biden’s choice to lead The Treasury Department is ideally suited for the role. Biden says he will nominate Janet Yellen for Treasury secretary. Economist Paul Schoofs says Yellen was president Clinton’s top economic advisor and became Fed chair in 2014 when the economy was still recovering from the Great Recession. Schoofs says Yellen’s experience, contacts and federal reserve background will help guide the country through the duration of the pandemic.
