Alliant Energy is expanding it’s renewable energy portfolio in Fond du Lac, installing electric vehicle charging stations,  smart poles,  and the company’s first solar panel  garden in the state.   Public Works director Jordan Skiff says the smart poles at Lakeside park is a $400,000 investment.  Skiff says over 20 LED light are being added at Lakeside Park, along with cameras, security push-buttons, LED banners and speakers.  Skiff says Alliant is paying for the upfront costs of purchase and installation and the city will be responsible for maintenance and eventually taking over ownership.  Skiff says Fond du Lac is one of only two communities in the state Alliant is partnering with at this point.  The other community is Platteville.  The Solar farm will be located on private property south of Highway 151 and make shares of that available to their customers.
